My Geodesic Dome Passage
So far we have: surveyed, carefully cleared land, installed 200' water line from well, dug 300' of 8' deep french drains, grubbed building site, excavated basement foundation, laid out dome footers, (contracted out the footing form and pour), built basement walls using Quad-Lock insulated concrete forms, engineered layout and installed rebar for walls, braced walls, poured concrete for walls, backfilled for slab, laid vapor barrier install under the slab, installed 40 PSI foam under slab, installed PEX radiant heat system under the slab, (we contracted out the slab pour), framed basement walls, re-engineered main floor system, installed/hung floor system, assembled Timberline Geodesic dome kit, sheathed the dome, covered dome with Grace ice and water shield and Vicor taped seams, installed many of the windows/skylights so the dome is semi- dried-in, installed drain tile, backfilled, install a temporary hydronic system for the basement in floor heat, started house wrapping, designed a new extension...
After summer number two: we have the dome covered with a 5 layer elastomeric roof, extensions covered and flashed with metal roofing, siding almost complete, all windows installed, natural gas and hydronic mechanical systems installed, a bit more earthwork done, and we even have a pool table! |
